In winter, each species becomes relatively easy to locate because of its likely reaction to cold.

The similarities end with the respective reasons for predictability.

The spot freshwater (crappie) seems to animate much cold weather, and is on a feeding frenzy of an annual report to spawn. Their counterparts in seawater spotted, however, are happier in warmer conditions. When the frosty nights come, they come together primarily to survive.

A thin-skinned fish, spotted sea trout do not handle cold very well, and Gulf fishermen winter to get to know where the water is warmer. Any spring-fed river in the Gulf is a good trout winter residence, and the nuclear Crystal River is the hot water discharge channel is another fine refuge produced well for many winters. Even the rivers whose sources are far from fat, upstream and away from trout to maintain the salinity does offer at least one or two degrees of relief from the heat for fish.

ditch the levelwinds for all of your SW fishing...
with the possible exception of locating an older penn model 350 that uses a spiral bar to move the line across the spool.

Thats WAY too much weight for a tube. Tubes are finesse baits. That much weight defeats the purpose of throwing a tube. But if you must, Use a bullet weight on the outside. Peg it at the head and let her fly. By the way, 300 feet is farther than you can
